Admission requirements for PhD in Public Health Nutrition
Application to the Ph.D. in Public Health Nutrition program is extremely competitive. The admission team gives the impression of being for a range of indicators of high skill, achievement and interest in Nutrition, including research in Public health related experience in the health science and related fields, and indications that applicants researched in the field of Nutrition. All entering applicants to the Ph.D. in public health nutrition training program are expected to have a degree in human nutrition, i.e. MPH Human Nutrition, MSc in Human Nutrition, Applied Human Nutrition, dietetics, and food science eligible for direct entry. Moreover, applicants must have two years of work experience after graduation before admission to the program Candidates with masters in health related fields (Medical and health science), are as well eligible but needs to take pre-requisite course or have taken equivalent course.
If the applicants are not eligible for direct entry (minimal competence) in one or more of the aforementioned programs or courses, these Human Nutrition Science courses (Introduction to public Health Nutrition, Nutritional assessment and surveillance, and Nutrition throughout life cycle courses) will be added to the program of study before joining the Ph.D., as a course audit course. Pre-requesting course auditing will be decided based on individuals academic profile. The department will develop additional guideline for the list of program and course pre-request to join Ph.D. in Public Health Nutrition. The Candidates who audits courses should score minimum “B’’ grade to join the program. Applicants from Higher education Institution will be given high priority. Applicants must also have work experience after graduation before admission to the program. Meeting all the criteria does not guarantee admission due to the limited space in the department. Finally, applicants who have a Master’s degree without thesis are not eligible for admission to this program.
