About Department of Health systems and policy
The department was established as a unit since the establishment of Public health at university of Gondar and as ‘’Department of Health service management and health economics’’ by the specialty of MPH Health Service Management by 2012. By 2015 the department expands its programs by adding new specialties of MPH in Health Economics, MPH in Human resource for Health and MPH in Hospital and Healthcare Administration. In 2018, The department opens another specialty of MPH in Monitoring and evaluation and revised its nomenclature into Department of Health Systems and Policy. We also run courses on LMG; health economics; monitoring and evaluation; health policy and planning, economic evaluation, econometrics, project management, healthcare financing for postgraduate and undergraduate students.
Our Department currently employs 24 academic staff who are dedicated to improving public health leadership and management and overall performance. Currently, under the department there are 2 professors, 1 associate professor, 6 assistant professors, 12 lecturers and 3 assistant lecturers. This helps us deliver quality teaching, conduct problem-based research projects and provide needs led community services.
