The Institute of Public Health (IPH) comprises Dabat Research Center, Team Training |Program, and 8 departments such as Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Health Systems and Policy, Reproductive Health, Human Nutrition and “Dietetics”, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety, Health Officer, Health Informatics, and Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences.

- Undergraduate Program: Six undergraduate programs in Environmental Health and Occupational Health and Safety, Health Officer, Family Health, regular and post basic Health Informatics. and Dietetics (under review)

- Seventeen regular Master Programs: Master of Public Health, MPH in Epidemiology, MPH in Biostatistics, MPH in Field Epidemiology, MPH in Health Service Management, MPH in Health Economics, MPH in Human Resources for Health, Master of Healthcare and Hospital Administration, MPH in Monitoring and Evaluation, MPH in Reproductive Health and Child Health, MPH in Human Nutrition, MSc in Nutrition, MPH in Environmental Health, MSc in Environmental Health, MPH in Occupational Health and Safety, MPH in Health Informatics, and MPH in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences

- Four PhD Programs: PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, and Biostatistics. In addition, the institute has been hosting seminars and providing PhD courses; providing 1st year courses to Biomedical PhD students; and hosting seminars and providing four years courses to Midwifery PhD students.
- Team Training Program /TTP/: IPH hosts and coordinates TTP to all Medical and Health Science students since its inception. Currently, the program is implemented in 11 sites: Dabat, Debark, Addis Zemen, Maksegnit, Denbia, Gorgora, Chilga, Woreta, Gondar Maraki HC, Gondar-Poly technic HC, and Gondar-Azezo HC sites. The institute aims to include additional sites, such as Beyeda, Janamora, Metema, Quara, Belessa, Tikildingay, Abderafi, and other under privileged sites in Gondar. The institute also aims to expand the program to all other colleges and faculties of the University of Gondar to improve the quality of education and services at the community.
- Dabat Research Center: IPH has been running the Dabat Research Center since 1996 to collect information on health and demographic related issues that can be used by planners, policy makers, researchers and administrators in the health and related sectors. The research center is one of the very few health and demographic surveillance system sites and research centers in our country, which generates vital statistics /health and demographic surveillance data/.
